My name is Josh Vogeler and I’m a song farmer primarily using percussion, a 10-string acoustic guitar and my voice. With a passion for the Folkedelic (Folk-manifesting) Arts, I grow songs out of the Folk spirit… music speaking from deep intuitions of human experience while creating space for celebration. My lyrics are often rhythmically spoken and laid into melodic journeys while I percussively persuade the strings and body of my guitar with the bare hands of a drummer. Rooted mainly in acoustic instrumentation, I utilize Folk influence from around the world, but directly my North American experience with Bluegrass, Jazz, Reggae, Punk Rock, Hip-Hop, Cajun, and Blues. And yes, at the origins of all these music forms are voices of Folk, small unpopular versions of reality which end up creating larger sub-cultures through the power of love and art. Colorado has been my home for 10+ years though I received most of my music training in Missouri, as well as developing close musical bonds with New Orleans and the Pacific Northwest. Most recently, I was a songwriter and drummer with Fort Collins band, The Holler! with whom I recorded Gratitude (2011) landing at #10 on KRFC’s top Colorado album spins for 2011. Presently I’m recording a solo album to be released in 2012, with other collaborations in the works.
